Our journey so far – what we’ve learnt
‘At Hill, we are proud to have led on and been an early adopter of building safety standards and processes. It was therefore a natural decision for us to be among the first organisations to embark on the BSF Champion assessment.
We have welcomed the staff engagement at all levels during the assessment process and the opportunity to gain valuable feedback on what is working well and suggestions for continuous improvement to the safety culture at Hill.
By its very nature, the assessment process has reached out across all areas of our business, and this has reinforced the appreciation that delivering building safety is a cultural as well as process driven activity, affecting staff across all disciplines and levels of seniority. As our business grows, it is important not to lose sight of our principles and culture and the feedback from the assessment process has been valuable to us, both as validation and in highlighting areas to maintain focus.
The BSF Champion assessment has provided a useful set of anonymous feedback from staff as well as a closer self-review of our internal processes. It was encouraging that changes have already been commenced or implemented in focus areas that the Champion assessment highlighted. The BSF Champion assessment has ensured safety remains central to everything we do at Hill.’
