‘Martin Arnold operates in London and the Home Counties. We provide consultancy services at every stage of a building’s life cycle, from initial design through to occupation and beyond. We offer Project Management, Building Surveying, Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services, supporting our clients by acting as Employer’s Agent, Contract Administrator, Clerk of Works, Health & Safety and Environmental Services consultants. We work on projects ranging in scale from refurbishments of single properties to new build developments to the regeneration of entire neighbourhoods, and so project values are equally broad and can range between £100,000 to £85 million+.’
Our journey so far – what we’ve learnt
‘At Martin Arnold we have always strived to deliver a strong service. We pride ourselves on continuous improvement and take every opportunity to make ourselves better. Post the Grenfell Tower tragedy, many of our clients chose us to assist them through their fire safety journey mainly due to our work ethos and reputation. We wanted to demonstrate and affiliate ourselves with like-minded organisations and individuals and we were one of the first Consultants to become Signatories to the Building a Safer Future Charter.
When we understood what the BSF Champion assessment was aiming to achieve and we recognised the focus on Culture and Leadership, we wanted to obtain and complete this review to ensure that our own practices did in fact share the company’s vision and goals around continuous improvement, following and influencing procedures.
The BSF Champion assessment has highlighted to us that our processes and how we train and share knowledge is critical to ensure that our high standards are followed, maintained and exceeded. The process has also made us aware of any cultural themes that may exist within the company. We are able to focus on those themes to enhance and develop them to ensure the themes are maintained or improved. We consciously share information and ensure experts are available to all staff members to ensure that we provide the correct and compliant information.
The process has also highlighted to us areas for improvement which we can take forward into our in-house working groups. It has made us look at certain aspects of our processes and has challenged our thought and action processes.’
